IT Manager
With over four decades of experience in the computer industry, Allen Poupart brings an extraordinary depth of technical expertise and innovation to RemoteMD. His career began in 1982 with Burroughs and Xerox, working on mini-mainframes and peripherals after completing training in electronics and computer technology. During his early years, Allen became certified on a wide range of banking equipment, gaining invaluable experience alongside some of the pioneers of the computing industry.
By the mid-1980s, Allen was advancing his skills with IBM mainframes and peripherals at Decision Data Corporation, where he earned a promotion to Senior Service Engineer within just two years. His certifications expanded to IBM’s System 3x series and specialized equipment supporting the U.S. Navy’s conversion of ship blueprints from microfiche to digital databases.
In the 1990s, Allen joined TLData Corporation as Service Manager, mastering networking systems such as Novell, Unix, and Windows as the personal computer era flourished. Over the next 16 years, he became a Microsoft Certified Professional on multiple versions of Windows and Windows Server.
Allen’s partnership with Dr. Michael Kotler began in 2006 at Pelican State Outpatient Center, where he helped develop early technology that would become the foundation of RemoteMD’s telemedicine platform. By 2010, he and Dr. Kotler were building the first prototype of what would evolve into RemoteMD’s signature telemedicine solution—initially assembled in a garage and later refined for real-world use on offshore drilling vessels.
Allen officially joined RemoteMD at the end of 2013, continuing to advance and modernize the company’s telemedicine systems. Today, his leadership ensures that RemoteMD’s technology remains innovative, reliable, and ready to meet the demanding needs of medical teams in some of the most remote locations on Earth.
