Medical Care Provider (MCP) formerly MFAP (STCW-95 USCG)
Medical Care Provider (MCP) provides training to mariners seeking to complete the requirements to provide medical first aid on board ships.
Any applicant who has successfully completed the Medical Care Provider (REMOTE-310) course will satisfy the Medical First Aid training requirements of 46 CFR 12.13-1; AND the competency to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness on board, of Section A-VI/4 and Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code, as amended. Meeting the minimum standard of competence in medical first aid, will enable a trainee to be able to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness onboard.
Target Audience: All crew members
Course Length: 40 hours
Prerequisites: Must have taken completed STCW 8 hour First Aid/CPR within 1 year of attending MCP
Renewal: Every 4 years
Students who successfully complete the Medical Care Provider course will receive a certificate of completion that is valid for four years.
